Fair Weather Café - Closing from 3rd July 2020

Fair Weather Cafe

Fair Weather Cafe

During the Covid19 crisis we have been committed to supporting NHS/Essential Workers with our business.

Part of the "Stays for Hero's" scheme our properties are available to essential workers;
- seeking to socially distance to continue working or
- self-isolating
can access the initiative.

We have participated in the Free Parking for NHS Staff initiative as part of the 'Your Parking Space' organisations scheme.

And at our Winchester property on Queens Road (opposite the Royal Hampshire County Hospital) we have been operating a day-time self-service 'Fair Weather Cafe' to provide hot drinks to NHS and essential workers for FREE for the 10 weeks duration of lockdown.

Thank You's.... this time from Alex Whitfield (C.E.O Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust)

Open in 'Fair Weather' between 9am until 5pm

Helped by a small team of local volunteers, donations as well as generous gifts we managed to maintain this service for over 10 weeks to provide this FREE self-service as a 'Thank You'.

Aimed at anyone caring for;
-Covid19 patients;
-vulnerable, less able or mature(!) individuals
-or simply helping to keep the 'world turning'
putting themselves at risk (and family members) with a view to keeping us all safe and well!

'Self-service'  with a view to minimising possible risk to volunteers and users of the facility.

Suggestions on how safeguards can be improved will be welcomed.

Please text these and suggestions on adjusted opening times to 07552 724926 or email oceanracer8@aol.com

Thanks to Winchester City Council for their assistance and we have contacted Hampshire Constabulary and our business insurers.

Everything in place is aimed at upholding the rules on 'Social Distancing' and reviewed constantly to keep us all safe!

Volunteers and Donations/Loans and support

Volunteers and Donations/Loans and support

Volunteers

If under 70 with no underlying conditions, live close to the RHCH and happy to interrupt your daily exercise for 15 minutes to replenish supplies and tidy/wipe down the café area, we would like to hear from you!

We are keen not to cause un-necessary car journeys and uphold social distancing to support the NHS.

PPE and cleaning materials are provided and systems in place to ensure the risk to volunteers is minimised.

But, if you don't live locally there are still opportunities to volunteer to support the café and we would like to hear from you too.

Loans/Donations

The Fair Weather Cafe will operate whilst necessary and although fortunate to have loans of equipment and gifts to get the idea off the ground but it is clear we may require additional assistance.
If you feel you can help, now or in the future, with equipment, supplies (or a gift!) please email (oceanracer8@aol.com) so that we can add you to the list!

As things progress we will maintain a 'wish list' and invite you to check the list at any time.

Currently our most pressing requirements are;

- The café is currently closed but will re-open again if the need arises!

  • Prefer all cakes to be in individual baking cases (not tray bakes etc.)
